4-H Scholarship Recipients





Jessie Soderstrum - Jessie is a Boone County 4-H Alumni and is currently attending Ellsworth Community College and transferring to Iowa State University in the fall of 2016 to study animal science. She is the 2016 Recipient of the LA-CO scholarship.




Francesca Gambonini – Francesca is a 4-H member from the San Luis Obispo area and is attending the California Polytechnic State University.  Francesca is currently a sophomore and she will be majoring in Dairy Science.  She also plans to further her education in graduate school, with a focus on genomics in dairy cattle.  During her time as a member, Francesca has been actively participating in the Dairy Club, she is a member of the Dairy Judging team, is on the Dean’s List as well as in the University’s Honors Program.  Francesca’s ultimate goal is to gain success in the dairy industry after graduation.  


Ted Pedrozo - Ted is a 4-H member from Merced County.  Ted has held various offices while a 4-H member including President, Vice President, Historian, Recreation, and Sergeant at Arms.  He also worked as a 4-H summer camp counselor and won the Gold Medal for Historian Record Book County Level.  Ted is currently attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is majoring in Business Marketing.  One day, he would like to start his own farming business.




Ryan Spangler – Ryan is an 11-year 4-H member from Fulton County, IL.  In his 11 years of experience, he has had multiple livestock accomplishments such as Grand Champion Ewe at the country fair and multiple showmanship awards.  He has also served in multiple leadership positions during his time in 4-H.  These positions include local club president for two years, 4-H Buddies Leader and community service projects across the county.  He currently attends Spoon River Community College receiving his Associates Degree in Agribusiness and then plans to transfer to Western Illinois to obtain his degree in Agribusiness to continue raising sheep, selling corn seed and chemicals.   



Courtney Zickmund - Courtney is a 9 year 4-H member from Tipton County, IN.  Over the years she has been involved in numerous projects, such as photography and foods and has volunteered as a camp counslor for the 4-H camp.  She has also held the position of President and Vice President in her chapter, The Liberty Leaders.  After she graduates, Courtney plans on attending Purdue University to study Pre-Dentistry and would like to attend dentistry school at Indiana University.


Rebecca Stowe- Rebecca has been awarded the LA-CO Circle of Champions 4-H Scholarship.  She is from Eldora, Iowa.  In the fall, Rebecca will be returning to Iowa State University as a junior to continue studying in the College of Agriculture.  While at ISU, she has been a member of the dean’s list and has also been inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta/ Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society in the spring of 2014.  Outside of school, she has been active in the Salt Company, which is a youth ministry through Cornerstone Church.  


Matt Dell - Matt is a freshman at the University of Minnesota.  He currently studying civil engineering.  Once he graduates, Matt would like to continue raising beef cattle.

Stacey Glaess - Stacey is a freshman at the University of Minnesota.  She plans to major in Pre-vet.



Kelly Wirkus - Kelly is a member of the Marathon County, IN 4-H Club.  She will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall.
